Career Tip: Join A New Meetup

There’s a meetup group for everyone out there. I like branching out and finding meetups based on discussions happening online. Meetup.com and social media are excellent resources to find events in your area. A quick hashtag or keyword search based on your interests or goals will most likely point you in the right direction.

But if you can’t find a group to your liking, start one up yourself.

Rad Awards, the inspiration for #RadGirlsinTech

In 2015, I co-hosted a meetup in Philadelphia called #RadGirlsinTech for women who are creative, entrepreneurial, and friendly. #RadGirlsinTech — inspired by interviews on Rad-Girls.com — is about convening women in the local Philadelphia tech community. I set out to create a community within the women-in-tech space to bridge the gap between coders and non-coders. Our goal? Expand what it means to identify as a woman working in the tech industry. Do you consider yourself as part of the tech community even if you don’t code? We do! Not sure how you fit into the tech community? We can help. We exist to make connections between techies (coders, programmers) and non-techies (content creators, marketers) to expand our network of peers, mentors, and even friends.
